Skew Socks

Two Saturdays:  Feb 17th 1:00-4:00pm, March 10th 1:00-3:00pm              $50.00*

Instructor:  Elena Homans

Skew, designed by Lana Holden, takes the concept of the bias design element to a new extreme by turning the entire architecture of the sock, including the heel, on the diagonal. This design veered off in a direction no one had ever gone before. The designer has two math degrees and is a contributing author of the book Making Mathematics with Needlework. A fair amount of high-school algebra and geometry was resurrected for the design process. But fear not, we promise there is no math in the course! The knitter only needs to be able to count and follow the directions that will be deciphered for you during the workshop.

This is another sock workshop that will certainly broaden your horizons in sock knitting.

Pax - A Tunsian Crochet Shawl

Three Saturdays, February 10th, February 17th and March 3rd   12:30-2:30pm          $60.00*

Instructor:  Jan Cornelius

"Tunisian Crochet Short Rows" are the key to creating this remarkable scarf.  Using a regular straight crochet hook, the rows are worked over 20 stitches across the entire length of the scarf/shawlette. This free pattern is so unique that many people do not even bother to attempt it, although there are some wonderful supportive videos to help.  The designer, Aoibhe Ni from Ireland, used an entirely new stitch vocabulary and crochet method to design this fun-to-make pience. It is a keepsake that will become easier and more relaxing the more you work on it. Once completed, you can move on to her more advance patterns that are similar in style.

Pre-Requisites:  Beginner Crochet Basic Stitches - Ch, SC, DC

In this three week workshop you will learn what "upple" stitches are and how to create them. Tunisian Short Rows will be the staple of the workshop, along with reading the interesting and very unique charts included in this free pattern. Come give it a try if you are an adventurous crocheter or knitter, in search of something very, very different. Lots of help will be provided in addition to some tips and tricks learned while making the sample.
