Crochet Sampler Blanket

Eight Tuesdays starting April 29th 11am-1pm  $120*

Come learn some new skills and create a beautiful blanket for yourself or as a wonderful
holiday gift! We will be making twenty squares (approx. 10”), joining them together and
adding a custom border around the entire blanket. This class is for anyone who can chain and
do a single and a double crochet! There will be a variety of patterns to choose from for
beginners to advanced crochet.
 
The completed blanket size is up to you! Finish all 20 squares for a complete sampler. Make 18
different squares and make two baby blankets! Or make 12 squares and make a lap blanket!
We will discuss layouts in class and come up with the perfect project for you! Use all one color
for a traditional blanket, or holiday colors for a seasonal gift!
 
Lots of different stitches and lots of fun!

Willowwork Cowl

One Saturday May 4th 12:30 to 3:30pm     $35.00*

This amazing cowl is worked from the bottom up combining a "thoughtful rib", twisted stitches and stranded colorwork.  The small size will be taught with an option for a large.  Please double the yarn needed for a large.  The sample is a small and is quite generous.

In this workshop you will learn: Norwegian caston, stranded knitting with two hands, cables , and twisted stitches.

There is homework for this cowl - please have your ribbing done prior to class.  The pattern will be given to you when you register for the class.

Tulips in the Desert Socks

3 Saturdays:  March 9th, 16th and 23rd  12:30-2:30pm  $60.00*

You have made a pair of plain vanilla socks - maybe even a few. You may have tried colorwork before. Was it a hat or mittens? Now what? We have a skill-stretcher for you. “Tulips in the Desert” top-down socks, designed by Arella Seaton, will allow you to polish up your stranded colorwork skills, as well as pick up some new skills along the way. How about learning an easier approach to a well-fitting afterthought heel worked with colorwork? Stranded colorwork in heels and toes makes more durable socks and also give you more comfort.

In this workshop, previous sock knitting experience and basic stranded colorwork skills are required.

There is some homework for the class, so please be sure to sign up in advance to allow time for knitting the cuff of the sock.

 

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN: ambidextrous knitting (one yarn held in each hand), joining and weaving in a new color in colorwork, making your socks to fit perfectly, afterthought heel construction.

 

PREREQUISITES: previous socks knitting experience & practical knowledge of basic stranded colorwork.

Winter's Fern - Intro to Stranded Knitting

Though at first sight it appears incredibly complicated, you can learn to knit stranded colorwork within one 3-hour session. The “Winter’s Fern” hat, designed by Trin Annelie, makes an ideal first stranded colorwork project. You will learn the basics of stranded knitting using combination method (working with two colors of yarn at the same time) and become fluent at reading colorwork charts. The skills you will acquire during the workshop will allow you to re-discover a whole new range of patterns that may have been too intimidating to take on in the past.

There is homework for this class, so please be sure to sign up in advance to allow time for knitting the ribbing of the hat.

Did you hear the gossip? We are getting ready to knit “Tulips in the Desert Socks” designed by Arella Seaton. Guess what? The “Winter’s Fern” hat will teach you skills that will be one of the prerequisites for the socks workshop starting a week after this one. Keepsake Sampler Afghan - New Worshop Starting!

Thirty beautiful 10" squares come together to create a keepsake of knitting for yourself or as an amazing gift.  With a huge variety of stitches, textures, lace and cables - many of the choices are yours to make.  In addition to the 30 featured squares, students will receive alternate patterns to substitute or enhance.

The completed blanket size is 55x65.

In this 7 month workshop you will learn basic cables, simple lace, simple crochet edging, twisted stitches, basketweave and hiding tails. You'll also learn how to join the squares and add a border.
